Part I:
¾ cup Crisco
4 cups flour
2 cups brown sugar
½ tea salt
1 tea baking powder
Part II:
½ cup King Syrup
1 1.2 cup boiling water
1 tea baking soda
Part III:
¾ cup hot water
1 ½ cup King syrup

Mix part I and take out 1 cup for crumbs. To remainder of part 1, add part II and mix well.
Mix part III and put in unbaked pie shell first. Spoon batter (parts I and II) over syrup and sprinkle with crumbs.
Bake at 450 for 10 minutes, then at 325 for 50 minutes. Makes 3 medium sized pies.
