***** Grammy's Chicken Soup Directions *****

grocery store ingredients

1 chicken
|
bag medium egg noodles
|
medium sweet onion, sliced
|
soup starter - it doens't really matter what kind
|
herbox chicken packets (8 pack)
|
package carrots
|
water (use fresh water no tap)
|
rinse chicken, take out the guts... put in pot with carrots and sliced onion. cover with water (use fresh water no tap). your soup is only as good as it's ingredients.

cook over medium heat for 3 - 4 hours. you will have to add more water for this... keep your eye on it and keep the water level up. water should be about 2 inches from top.

here's what it looks like when it's done

let it cool a little so it's not too hot to handle.
|
take the chicken out and put it on one plate
|
take the carrots and onions out and put it on another plate.
|
now that you have the carrots/onions on one side and chicken on other side let it cool a little
|
pick the chicken off the bone and the put the carrots/onions and the not so good chicken in the bowl for the dogs
|
waiting patiently for it to cool - i mix it with a little dry food
|
oh boy this looks good ... i love when she makes chicken soup!
|
take your pot of broth and put it in the fridge overnight - i don't bother covering it
|
take your good chicken put it in something and put in fridge overnight
|
next morning see that layer of fat?? scrape it off and throw it out
|
here's what it should look like... i transfer this to a different bowl or pot and set aside
|
take a fresh pot of water bring to a boil - this is going to be for your noodles
|
put in your entire bag of noodles and cook for 6 minutes and drain. set aside
|
put your chicken stock back in your pot. put your pot on the stove and cook over meium-low heat
|
disolve 1/2 soup starter and 4 packets of chicken herbox in 2 cups of boiling water. when well mixed put in soup stock pot
|
add drained noodeles - make sure there is enough liquid - if not add more water or canned chicken broth
|
add chicken - and simmer on stove till everything is married - about 15 minutes - do not overcook
|
