***** Homemade Applesause Directions *****

get your favorite apples from your favorite grocery store
|
my favorite is 1/2 courtland and 1/2 winesap
|
take apples out and wash
|
get out a knife and slice apples
|
quarter the apples don't worry about the skin
|
you should end up with four pieces
|
put it in a large crock pot with a little water on the bottom
|
cover and cook on low till done - about 4-6 hours
|
let cool a little
|
here's what it should look like
|
get out your favorite food mill - mine is an oldie but goodie
|
and put it on top of your favorite bowl or pot
|
scoop some apples out
|
and put it in your food mill
|
turn handle clockwise to mill the apples
|
if it gets stuck turn counterclockwise
|
getting to the end
|
here's what it should look like...
|
get out the butter
|
melt butter - i use microwave
|
get out the sugar and put it in the applesauce
|
this is one cup but may add more to taste
|
add the melted butter
|
stir with wooden spoon
|
add cinnamon to taste
|
serve fresh is best
|
store in plastic containters
|
or freeze for thanksgiving
|
